The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) and VSO School of Music are delighted to announce that Maestro Otto Tausk has extended his contract as Music Director of the VSO and Artistic Advisor of the VSO School of Music into the 2029/30 season.

“Since 2018, Maestro Tausk has demonstrated his deep commitment to the musicians of the VSO and our audiences across the Lower Mainland,” says Angela Elster, President & CEO of the VSO and VSO School of Music. “I look forward to another six seasons of collaborating with Otto to bring our community together through the power of music, and building on our current momentum.”

“One of my goals at the VSO has been to make the orchestra renowned for its sense of curiosity,” says Maestro Tausk. “I feel so lucky, grateful, and honored to be a part of this ever growing, amazing orchestra and school of music. We ave achieved so much together already, but I’m determined to raise the artistic bar even higher to create irresistible musical experiences that connect with our audiences across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.”

During the 2023/24 season, Maestro Tausk invited some of the world’s most celebrated guest soloists to perform with the VSO including Yo-Yo Ma, Augustin Hadelich, Sarah Chang, Steven Isserlis, and Vadim Gluzman. Next year, Vancouver audiences can look forward to concerts with Lang Lang, Tan Dun, Leila Josefowicz, Bruce Liu, Francesca Dego, Rihab Chaieb, and Angela Hewitt. Subscriptions to the VSO’s 2024/25 season are currently available for purchase at VancouverSymphony.ca.

The podium of the VSO Music Director is endowed through the generous support of Alan and Gwendoline Pyatt.
